Plan encourage sponsors to visit the communities where money is supporting projects and so on. All they ask is that any visits to the children are arranged through Plan and with a member of Plan present to ensure the meeting is as successful as possible (and avoiding any cultural pitfalls)
I was planning on building up relationships throughout the year and then maybe visiting next December.
